The Dog King at King John’s House
In 2022, I completed an artist residency at King John’s House and Museum in Romsey, a unique medieval site steeped in history and intrigue. Inspired by the museum’s rich collection of medieval graffiti, I crafted a playful and immersive experience that brought the past to life in unexpected ways.
At the heart of the project was a mischievous dog, one of the graffitied characters etched on to the walls of the house. Through animation and projection, visitors were invited to step into his narrative, reimagining history in a playful way. The project not only celebrated the historical context of the site but also encouraged audience participation, allowing visitors to leave their own marks on a replica medieval wall.
This residency was an opportunity to combine my passions for storytelling, mischief, and interaction design, creating a project that challenged traditional museum experiences while deepening engagement with local heritage.
